Med-E.R.R.S. is available on a consultative basis to assist companies specializing in medication-related technology improve the functionality and safety of their product(s). Using the expertise of an interdisciplinary team, the consultants pay particular attention to the ability/likelihood of a typical practitioner using the device safely within practice. Such an evaluation includes the direct interaction of the practitioner with the device, a review of device functionality and efficiency, and related documentation capabilities (as necessary) all of which can lead to a reduction in device-related medication errors.

A comprehensive evaluation of technology often may require a one or two-day site visit by the team to a location of the vendor's choice. Due to the interactive and complex nature of the medication process, and the impact that new technology can have on other systems within the organization, the Med-E.R.R.S. team is able to provide comprehensive feedback regarding the status of the current product, and it's ability to promote safety in today's healthcare environment. During this on-site visit, the team will meet with the vendor's research and development team as well as interview key professional staff in the organization where the product is currently being utilized. Product review also includes the materials used to market the product and the curriculum developed for practitioner education. Following the product evaluation, the findings and recommendations are provided to the client in the form of a written report. A second visit following implementation of recommendations may be requested to determine the success of the improvements.
